Fashion Month has officially begun. With four cities on the calendar, numerous shows to review, and presentations to attend, who better to tap into than our own global editors for an inside scoop as they take on each city? Let US Vogue’s Chioma Nnadi, Vogue Italia’s Francesca Ragazzi, and Vogue France’s Eugénie Trochu take you through fashion week in their respective cities, beginning with New York and ending in Paris later this month. Here, our editors share the local brands they’re most excited to see, new names to look out for, their fashion week style signatures, and of course, what’s on their fall-fashion wishlists. I’m Eugénie Trochu, Head of Editorial Content of Vogue France. Vintage twists, casual chic, and constantly evolving are a few ways to sum up my current style. I love to wear a pair of cool denim, perhaps by Loewe or Diesel, pair it with a statement bag, and keep it daring, but relaxed—often adding a ’60s twist. For this fashion week, I am most excited to see Coperni, Paco Rabanne, and Courrèges. While jumping from different shows, a comfortable shoe is a must—like my current favorite moccasins or high boots. Living in Paris, you will probably see me biking around the city, showcasing a creative touch to the French style.
Another perennial fashion favorite of ours is the leather midiskirt—a more grown-up version of the leather miniskirt. Vogue’s very own Lisa Aiken styled hers with a buttery yellow blouse and zebra-print mules. The finishing touch? Prada’s raffia tote bag in black. Sometimes all you need to tie your entire look together is a plain white T-shirt. For example, top model Paloma Elsesser paired hers with a hip-hugging skirt from Issey Miyake and vintage Nike sneakers. Think of the tee as your solid wardrobe foundation this fall—the perfect landing for trendier items like Balenciaga’s shoulder bag to more classic pieces in your closet you’ve yet to wear. A fall coat is magic in your wardrobe, worn to warm you up when temperatures drop or as a layering piece to show off the other stars of your outfit. This style setter pairs her oversized overcoat with a crisp white button-up and a barely there bra. A timeless black trouser like this one from Cos is the glue keeping the entire look together. While there were plenty of midiskirts to be spotted this NYFW, the ultra miniskirt still had its moment. For example, this leg-barring mini from Mango lends itself to being paired with more oversized pieces like a boxy button-up from the Frankie Shop. Lean into the schoolgirl aesthetic and style yours with a loafer from By Far, like this model off-duty did. Top the look off with Loewe’s Puzzle bag in brown.
I would define my style as bohemian chic with a touch of classic, while having fun with colors, patterns, and shapes. For this season’s fashion week, I can’t wait to see what the young generation of Italian fashion designers have to show once again—Marco Rambaldi, Andrea Adamo, and many more, with their innovative and fresh collections. Plus, this week, Vogue Italia will host the opening of VogueRama, an exciting multidisciplinary exhibition that we can’t wait for you to see! Fashion Week is back in a major major way this season. It really feels like there is something happening every second of the day and night, including our very own Vogue World! A schedule as packed as this gives me every excuse to shop for new things—plus fall is basically upon us, so there’s every reason to shift gears style wise. I have a soft spot for conversation-starting pieces or anything that has a sense of humor, something to make me smile—think, sequins, playful novelty shoes, a bit of crochet. And then of course the basics: for example, a good pair of workwear jeans to see me through fashion week and beyond. Every 6 months, the fashion set watches and waits to see what comes down the runway at New York Fashion Week—but also what’s on the bodies of show attendees. It’s fashion fact that street style trends are just as impactful as the designers’ visions. As for season? The item of the moment was surprisingly and delightfully workaday: The plain white tee.
